08.09 Beauty Up and Comers: Rinse Hair Lounge

By Ashley Galicia

Ladies, have you been wondering where you can get a haircut and style that only makes it look like you broke the bank to pay for it? Well, if you haven’t found that place yet, here it is: Worcester’s very own Rinse Hair Lounge.

Sonia Perec DiGioia, Zena Jaber and ten of their fellow hairstylists have created this ultra-lounge and their hard work and sense of style shines through and had yielded a classy, modern, hip, chic hair lounge for everyone who oves to get their hair done.

Sonia and Zena opened Rinse in January of ‘09 and in just the few months since then the business has taken off. Sonia and Zena had dreams of opening their own salon while they were working together at the Regis Hair Salon in the Auburn Mall. As soon as they got serious and put their heads together, all the pieces fell into place and they went for it. These determined ladies have big dreams of taking an old trade, putting a modern twist on it, and giving their clients a truly wonderful hair-styling experience ~ and with the support and confidence of their girls it is happening.

Sonia and Zena want Rinse to have a fun atmosphere, somewhere where their customers can come and relax. They also want to spice up Worcester’s look; Sonia has studied hair all over the world ~ from Greece and China to Las Vegas and New York ~ and she hopes to bring all of the styles from around the globe and incorporate them into Rinse. “I want to put Worcester on the map as far as style goes, when people think of style and crazy looks I want them to think of Rinse.” She goes on to say, “I know it’s a big goal to put Worcester on the map for hair in the way New York City and Las Vegas are, but it’s my goal and I will accomplish it.”

Zena feels the same way about bringing a certain fashion style to Worcester and their salon. “My passion has always been fashion and hair; I believe the two go hand in hand, and I want to display that on all my clients by giving them the best hair style I think fits for them.”

Rinse Hair Lounge is something new and refreshing to Worcester, and if you are in the market for a new stylist it is absolutely worth checking out. They are located behind Funky Murphy’s at 305 Shrewsbury Street. Drop in and say hi, you will be welcomed with open arms.

  1. I used to work for Sonia at another location. I was blown away by her utter joy, complete understanding and skill when it came to hair. Mens, womens, funky, classic, off beat or rock n roll. She is a hair GENIUS. Good luck ladies, although you don’t need it. Your skill speaks for itself. The lucky ones are the clients that sit in your chair.

  2. Wodering if there is anyone that does eye lash extensions @ your salon and if so the longevity of them & the price!! Thanks
