Over the past few years, Worcester seems to have “woken up.” With the rejuvenation of Water and Shrewsbury Streets and the Canal District, and planned gentrification of South Main, locals don’t have to travel to Boston, Providence or Hartford in search of a diverse night life. It’s right here at our fingertips. At the forefront of Worcester’s burgeoning club scene is Blurry Night Productions, a company started by Jon Farnsworth, a company with its hand is every aspect of the entertainment industry. “We are an entertainment and production company that incorporates nightlife event planning, promotion, musical and celebrity booking, graphic design, web design, merchandise and club and bar interior and exterior design,” explained Farnsworth. “Plus we party pretty hard too.”

blurry nights.jpgFarnsworth first began throwing house parties as a teenager in his basement. “We called it ‘The Cave,’” he remembers. “It was like our own personal lounge/nightclub.” Farnsworth and some friends threw their first formal party at a small club in Worcester while he was still in school for digital media and marketing. “Everything about the club scene just drew me to want to do it… the fun, the lights, the atmosphere, the music pounding. So one day I sat down and designed a logo and haven’t looked back since.”

Just about everywhere you look around town you can find someplace where Blurry Nights has contributed its ideas and expertise. They have designed flyers and advertisements for Club Oasis, Bravo, Jose Murphy’s, Irish Times, VooDoo, The Atrium, Bar None and Sh-Booms, to name a few, plus they’re heading up Friday and Saturday nights at the revamped Krave Bar. “The bar has to have something that makes people want to go there,” Farnsworth explains. “If it’s a room with a bar and one color walls and a not-so-great sound system, then it makes a bigger gamble for us. It has to be comfortable for the customer… a trendy place for people to want to come back to.”

Blurry Nights is currently working on getting a new website up and plans to get involved with charity events next summer. “What I would really like for the future is for everybody in the industry in Worcester to use us as their ‘go to guy’ for anything they need in terms of nightlife advertisement, merchandise, booking etc. We are still a young company… every day we learn a little more about the business and what it takes. We want everyone to have a great time.”
