Tell us about your business:

The Fix Burger Bar is a full-service Burger Bar that has been serving Worcester since 2014. The Fix’s takeout and delivery business exploded during the Covid pandemic and has grown consistently since, so much so that it has long made sense to have a dedicated location to service takeout and delivery needs while still offering a dedicated location to the dine-in, full-service experience. We launched the Quick Fix in July of 2026, directly adjacent to The Fix, offering our signature Fixed Up Burgers as well as adding a signature Waygu Hot Dog menu. We will be launching a Bodega Series sandwich menu including the Chopped Cheese, which launched in early September 2026 and has been selling out daily.

What was your journey to this venture?

I grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts, went to high school in downtown Boston and college at UMass Lowell earning a Masters in Physical Therapy. My PT career landed me in Worcester in the late 90s, and I had been dual careered since graduating, always working in the restaurant space as a bartender and manager. In the early 2000s, I pursued my dream of entrepreneurship and opened my first restaurant with my partners in 2005.

The typical experience at your business is?

They can expect a delicious “handheld” whether it be a signature Fix burger, a waygu hot dog or one of our riffs of a classic Bodega or New England sandwich. The Quick Fix is a dedicated space for off-site catering for an office lunch or a social party. The space also doubles as a party room for kids’ birthdays or curated events with burgers and beers!

You’re giving a TED Talk about building your business. What advice or insight would be most important to share?

My advice for new entrepreneurs is to be very intentional with the details of what will make your business or service stand out. You won’t have all the answers, despite your best efforts to control all of the variables, but the only way to truly launch and build that blueprint in detail is to get to the point where you jump in, launch, learn, grow and adapt. No amount of preparing will ever be enough, and resilience is built through doing and not planning.

 In five years you will:

I see myself building and creating guest experiences through our existing concepts and adapting to the needs of the guest as technology and preferences continue to change.

This December, Bocado will celebrate 20 years of operating continuously in Worcester. It is a huge milestone and a testament to the support of the Worcester community, and we are grateful for all of that support across all of our brands over the last 20 years. We have stores that are closing in on 20 years like Mezcal, as well as new launches with Green Island Oyster and now the Quick Fix. We are committed to evolving with the city and offering quality take out and dining rooms for respite from the business of life through food and drink with friends and family to celebrate occasions or just to take a break from shopping and cooking.
