
New Owners: Table Twelve, a popular neighborhood restaurant on Route 12, has officially changed ownership and is now part of the newly formed Byrnes Restaurant Group. Michael Byrnes, the new owner, has brought on two longtime 111 Chophouse veterans to lead the transition: Griffin Wesson, who will serve as chief operating officer, and Malcolm Chumsae, the new general manager. The move marks Byrnes Restaurant Group’s first acquisition and the beginning of its expansion into the hospitality industry.
The Early Bird Gets the Deal: The Worcester Restaurant Group, owners of The Chop House, Via and the Sole are doing early bird specials. You pay $20 at Sole & Via and $25 at the Chop House before 6 pm.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: A new Korean chicken restaurant is set to open at 81 Gold Star Boulevard across from Chick-Fil-A. Bonchon, founded in 2002 in Busan, South Korea, is known for Korean fried chicken.
The Grill Is On: Grill & Green has recently opened on Worcester’s Highland Street in space once occupied by Wooberry Yogurt.
Ex the Mex: Loco Toro Taqueria, the small Mexican restaurant in Worcester’s DCU closed at the end of April according to the DCU.
Brew To New: It looks like Brew City, a Shrewsbury Street mainstay, has been sold and it appears that a new restaurant will soon open. The new owners appeared before the license commission in the middle of May and based on its name it may be either a Japanese or Chinese eatery. Stay tuned for an opening date.
It Ain’t Carly Simon: It looks like Webster has a new place to eat. Carly’s Restaurant & Bar recently opened at 267 Main Street. Their Facebook post lists a few Spanish style dishes.
It’s No Bull: The Bull Mansion, at 55 Pearl Street in Worcester, is getting a new Puerto Rican Eatery. 55 Pearl Street has a newly opened Puerto Rican Restaurant which opened in the middle of May. Owned by a Boston group Vejigantes Restaurant
Helfands Gets A New Tenant: 142 Highland Street in Worcester, the site of the former Helfands Deli, has been reborn as a Brazilian Pizza place. Patrick Joseph recently opened Bella Pizza, which also has a location in Milford.
And Another Closes: Auburn’s Bentley’s Pub, a former Piccadilly Pub on Route 20 closed its doors on May 16th according to a Facebook post.
The Other Shoe Dropped: Joseph Ciejka and Kristina Ciejka, siblings who own and operate Livia’s Dish in Worcester, have bought Altea’s Eatery in Worcester, from restaurateurs Enton Mehillaj and wife, Oriola Koci. The restaurant changed hands in April.
Main Street Goes Brazilian: Alma Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse is set to open across the street from the Hanover Theatre on Worcester’s Main Street.
Prime The Roast: West Brookfield’s Salem Cross Inn will be hosting a Father’s Day Drovers Roast on June 15th. The meal will feature appetizers, prime rib and seafood chowder with fresh strawberry shortcake for dessert. Visit the restaurant’s website for details.
