What better time than summer to come out and support the WARL and their amazing efforts on behalf of our furry friends! There are some great events coming up, so if you can volunteer at any of them, terrific, or if you can attend (and bring some friends!) any of them, terrific!
Sunday, May 15: Adoption Event at Immaculate Pooch grooming shop in Leicester from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. WARL will bring adoptable pets to the shop and have baked goods and raffle tickets for sale. They need two or three people to help out their staff.
Saturday, May 21: Adoption Event at Long Subaru in Webster from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This event will follow the same format as last year’s and have a staff member present to assist with adoptions, but it would be great to have an additional 3 or 4 volunteers.
Sunday, May 22 [rain date June 5]: Start on the Street in Worcester from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. WARL must staff the space during the entire event, so they’ll need at least two people (who can commit to both the planned and rain date) per shift and a total of 6 or 7 people total for the event so that the WARL table always has coverage.
Saturday-Sunday May 28-29: Adoption Event at Ellie’s Pet Barn in Holden from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. both days. The shelter will probably need two or three people for each day.
Monday, May 16 & Friday, May 20: WARL will be setting up at the Worcester post office’s main branch during Dog Bite Prevention Week, May 16-20, to coincide with a talk given that week to postal carriers that week. They are looking for someone to pick up items from the shelter and arrange them on a table on Monday morning at the post office, plus someone to collect the items and return them to the shelter on Friday afternoon. They also need someone to arrange some of their brochures, foster parent applications and other related handouts on the table at the post office and then return the items to the shelter at the end of the week.
Looking ahead to June:
June 5: Whisker Walk at the Lancaster Fairgrounds from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
June 28: Bark in the Park at the Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on the campus of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. The game starts at 7:05 p.m.
There will be more details on the June events to follow!
