Simple Man Saloon: Kick Back and Relax

Amidst all the fancier places to go in Worcester County, where can you go to have a laid back night out? Cue Simple Man Saloon, located at 119 High Street in Clinton; it’s the new bar/restaurant “bringing some casual back” into your next outing.

General Manager Adam Lyons describes the place as a “small town pub with a rustic feel.” Lyons says that when co-owners Mike Casasanto and John Paige took over the place, they wanted to make sure that it appealed to the “blue collar worker” and would be nice and comfortable.

As for food, Lyons says, “Instead of a 10 page menu, we have a smaller menu that is simplified for everyone.”  You’ll find great pub food, including a variety of appetizers like nachos and a combo platter that includes a half a pound of cheese fries, hot wings and jalapeño poppers, juicy burgers made from 100% angus beef, and delicious sandwiches and wraps such as Italian and chicken parmesan. Lyons notes that “…nothing on the menu is over $10.” (Score!) He also mentions that in September of 2010, the restaurant will expand and offer Italian pizza.

You can also find a fully stocked bar at Simple Man’s. “We have a bunch of specialty drinks. We come up with our own recipes right here,” Lyons says. Some of their best selling specialty drinks include the “western mai tai” and “ecto-cooler martini.” Yes, you read that right, an “ecto-cooler martini” ~ bringing it back old-school! Lyons adds that during the summer, you can get any specialty or mixed drink as a pitcher so you can share with friends. “We also plan to have our drinks served in beach pails with our logo on them for everyone to enjoy!” Lyons says.

Lyons notes that Simple Man’s Saloon is primarily a bar with great food as a bonus. Another bonus? Live music! “Friday is our acoustic night and Saturday we have full bands play,” Lyons says. Some acts to catch at Simple Man’s include Stone Clover and Laura and the Lookouts.

Simple Man’s also has trivia once a week and several HD TVs so you can watch your favorite team during football season.  They’ll also hold private parties and functions once they expand in September. The bar/restaurant also gives back to the community in other ways. “In July, we held a breast cancer fundraiser for Susan G. Komen for the Cure,” Lyons says.

Simple Man Saloon is open at 2pm Mon. – Wed., kitchen closing at 9pm, bar open until 12am, 11:30am Thurs. – Sat., kitchen closing at 10pm, bar open until 1am, and 12pm Sundays, kitchen closing at 8pm, bar open until 12am.
