Clinton Gaels get new owner. Gael House on High St in Clinton is under new ownership. Michael Cassanto is the new owner and coming with the new ownership is a new moniker for the place. It is now called The Simple Man Saloon. The Simple Man offers a pub menu and will also feature a late night menu on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until 1 am.
Destare gets a sibling. Chris Lashaway, the owner of Fitchburg’s Destare, has opened a new place in the same building. Chibo is a classic coffee house and also offers gelato, specialty coffees, and 17 loose teas. Enjoy chocolate fondue, italian gelato, and panini for lunch on the outdoor patio, open 7 days from 11 am-9pm.
News on the street. Cedar Street in Sturbridge is about to get an addition and a new owner. We hear that prior to selling the place, current owner Bill Nemroff is expanding the bar area to provide more seating. Our South County spies tell us to watch out for more changes in Sturbridge. A long time restaurant is about to change hands.
Vinny T’s to reopen as Buca di Beppo. Vinny T’s on Shrewsbury’s Lake Quinsigamond will be reopening under a new name. The Vinny T’s chain was purchased in late June by Minneapolis based Buca di Beppo. Buca owned the chain when the restaurant was called Vinny Testa’s, but sold it to Bertucci’s. It will continue to be a family style Italian restaurant. The chain has 83 other eateries around the country.
Belissimo. Bellisimo Restaurant recently opened in the space that formerly housed Miranda Bakery at 42 West Boylston Street in Worcester. One of the owners is Roger De Olliveira. Bellisimo will be open seven days a week from 7 am-10pm. It is BYOB and serves Italian food with entrees priced between 8-$15.
Boynton expands. The Boynton Restaurant on Worcester’s Highland Street has begun construction on a major expansion which will give them a function room. Along with the expansion is additional parking for the ever popular Highland Street eatery.
More Q. Buck’s BBQ on Route 12 in Auburn is about ready to open its doors. Buck’s is owned by Al Remillard, who used to own Bucky’s Bagels.
Hanover spinoff. This item comes from the Worcester License Commission Calendar. The Red Baron Bar, located across the street from the Hanover Theatre, is about to get a new owner and a new name. Robert Rosenberg has purchased the place. It looks like it will be called Jak’s Pub. Hopefully he will attract a different clientele.
Alice’s Restaurant. No, not the Arlo Guthrie “Alice’s Restaurant,” but Alice’s Restaurant on Hamilton Street in Worcester is set to open in the space that formerly housed the Hamilton Bistro. We’re not sure if you can get what you want at Alice’s but it does look like you can get Italian food. We will keep you posted.
