New Clubs Hit the Scene
Check out Rehab, Milan and Club Oz
November 2004 – Looking for something new to do this month? Simmer down. The PULSE has got you covered with our newest column, “On the mic.” We’ll give you the skinny on the Central Mass club scene — from openings to owner/bartender highlights.
Check yourself into Rehab — Avalon’s resident DJ Rick Naples presided over the October 22 opening of Worcester’s newest nightclub, Rehab. Located above Irish Times, 244 Main Street in Worcester, the two floor club features “a different scene” on each floor, according to Shawn of Irish Times, with different themes, music and décor. Rehab is the newest place to party.
Check into Rehab the day after Thanksgiving — DJ Soup will be on the 1’s and 2’s.
Too much to do at Milan — What do you get when a hi-tech professional and a former employee of the Civil Aviation Authority team up? Give up? Milan, located at 889 Boston Turnpike in Shrewsbury and on the web at www.milanbr.com, is a restaurant, lounge and banquet facility owned by Verinder and Nisha Bawa. Opened recently at the site formerly occupied by Black Orchid, Milan offers a mouthwatering menu featuring Italian and Indian specialties, as well as a wide range of club nights every day of the week — from Open mic Sundays to Underground Thursdays with hip-hop, R&B and reggae.
Don’t miss the immensely popular Sabado Sertanejo every Saturday night with live Brazilian music and a DJ.
Follow the yellow brick road — Located at 200 Grafton Street in Worcester, Club Oz is another newcomer on the club scene. The owners have done massive renovations on the space since the first of the year and that’s not even the half of it. Boasting the “biggest and best drinks at awesome prices,” Club Oz hosts college nights every Tuesday and Sunday, a local artist night with cash prizes every Thursday and $1 shooters every weekend to slam down while in-house DJ Johnny C spins up a storm.
There is never a cover for 18+ clubbers and there’s always plenty of free pool and darts that you don’t have to reserve in advance. Snack on their 25 cent wings or enjoy a $1 meatball sandwich while you bask in the glow of their impressive 65-inch TV. After a night of fun at Club Oz, you’ll still have some money in you pocket — and really, what more can you ask for?
Don’t miss Club Oz’s Thanksgiving Party with free buffet, games, giveaways, $1 Michelob Ultra draughts and $3.75 pitchers.
