United We Rock!
Saliva and Shinedown to help Locobazooka turn “Lucky 13”
September 2004 – If you haven’t already purchased a ticket to the upcoming Locobazooka!: United We Rock! 2004 music festival, you should be asking yourself why not. The biggest rock-and-roll festival in New England returns to the Fitchburg Municipal Airport on September 26, celebrating its “Lucky 13” birthday.
This year’s featured national acts will include rock chart-toppers Saliva and Shinedown, as well as Shadows Fall, Clutch, Earshot, Tesla, Kittie, Candiria and Monster Magnet with some surprise acts. Some great local bands will wail on stage too, like Leaving Eden, Jaded — the female answer to Motley Crue — and returning Locobazookers, Blind by Noon.
Over three thousand bands applied to play at this year’s Locobazooka! and 3-D Entertainment, Inc. is bringing their devoted fans the best of the best. Co-sponsor 107.3 WAAF FM’s gorgeous daytime deejay Mistress Carrie will skydive into the festivities and there will be airplane and helicopter rides for the fans to enjoy too.
The tireless people of 3-D Entertainment, Inc. are responsible for bringing truckloads of the heaviest national and local acts together with 20,000 fans for this day of unparalleled rocking out. Dan “Danimal” Hartwell is the man behind 3-D, a full-service promotion and production company based in Worcester. His nickname dates back to his days as a drummer, when he had huge hair and chained himself to his drum set. His inspiration for Locobazooka! was spawned by his own frustration at never performing with big national acts. “I couldn’t make it happen for myself, so now I make it happen for others,” he says.
Hartwell, who laughingly says his favorite bands are “Punk Floyd, Alice Bowie, and Jearl Pam,” says this of Locobazooka!: “It’s a lot of work, but it’s great to put something like this together. The bands get exposure to a large number of fans, who pay a low ticket price that includes a week of music and parties leading up to the grand finale show at Locobazooka!”
In fact, this year’s ticket will pay for itself in bonuses. The party begins for Locobazooka! ticket holders at The Evolving Artist Complex in Southbridge, MA on Sunday, September 12 with more than 25 bands performing. There will be over a dozen cameras on site filming this year’s Locobazooka! movie. From there, a ticket will serve as a week-long party pass to see a total of over one hundred bands at local venues like The Lucky Dog and Boston Billiards Club in Worcester, The Compound in Fitchburg, Club Liquid in Leominster and The Rockpile in Saugus. After all that, enjoy the be-all and end-all of rock-and-roll festivals, Locobazooka!: United We Rock!.
Fans at the general admission show are treated like VIPs for the day, mingling with their favorite bands, collecting autographs and slamming around while the guitars grind and the drums crash on stage.
Active armed forces members will receive a free ticket to the whole shebang if they visit www.Locobazooka.com in advance. Also, all New England area college students will receive $5 off the nominal ticket price of $40
Even if you don’t fit either of the above descriptions, you will still get a deal. As if the ticket wasn’t already chock-full of bonuses, it also entitles the bearer to 20% off their bill at the Applebee’s on Park Avenue, one hour of free pool at Boston Billiard Club and a free donut with the purchase of a coffee at select Dunkin Donuts locations in Auburn.
You can also be a part of the Locobazooka! experience before it happens. Be a member of the Locobazooka! Street Team to help raise awareness about this rocking week of partying and hard-hitting music. There’s something for the lovely ladies out there as well. This year there will be a Bazooka Babes Calendar published and you could be one of the lucky ladies chosen to represent the beauty of Locobazooka! all year-round.
The number one thing to expect at the show is “a really great time,” says Hartwell, a Worcester native. “I can’t think of a better way to spend a beautiful autumn day than at a giant rock festival, having the time of your life.”.
