Many people who are on a fitness journey find themselves looking for that “just right” combination of exercise, nutrition, and mental health. It can be like wandering through a desert looking for water – you know it will nourish you and give you what you need to be healthy, but it isn’t always so easy to find.

Now, in the heart of Worcester, there is an oasis.

Located on the second floor of the Midtown Mall, which residents and those passing by may realize is an area that is going through a significant revamp lately, is what can be described as an innovative jump into what all gyms should be like in the here and now.

That said, Worcester Common Fitness (WCF) is more than just a gym. It’s a one-stop shop for starting or continuing your voyage to transformation and wellness. Walking through the doors, you are welcomed into a modern, stylish, and sleek environment that completely exceeds the expected. Flooded with natural light, the wide-open space is set up for any kind of exercise you are looking for, with state-of-the-art equipment for every target area. From rowing, running and stair climbing, to sculpting your body with weightlifting, getting lean through CrossFit training, or releasing some stress on a treadmill with a gorgeous view of the Commons, WCF has something for everyone, at any level.

Unlike other gyms, this is not a fitness chain, but a unique center designed specifically for a personalized wellness experience. Created by owner Felicio Lana, the location and design were chosen specifically with the Worcester community in mind. He really wanted to give something special back to the city he loves, and helping it to thrive. Building it near City Hall, local banks, businesses, housing, and near to the police and fire stations were all key factors. There are even discounts offered to city workers because ensuring they are at their most fit and healthy helps the city overall.

With knowledgeable and experienced fitness trainers and health coaches, WCF also offers personal training and robust nutrition programs and counseling. Every new member gets a free 30-minute session with a trainer to assess their goals and determine the best development plan.

“We have an amazing tool that tells us not only a client’s weight, but also how much fat and muscle are on their body and breaks down everything, which helps me create a nutrition program very specific to each individual,” says Jennifer Coleman, the center’s Nutritionist.

“We teach you what you need to eat and how much based on your unique needs. This is all critical to get the best results out of your workouts and meet your goals. It’s not as if people don’t know this, but sometimes they need a little help figuring out how to put it all together and what is right for them specifically.”

Additionally, there are men’s and ladies’ showers, a sauna, and a protein smoothie bar for that pre or post workout boost. They even have an in-house Body SymmetryMD office that offers services for medical weight loss, hormone therapy, cell therapy, dermal fillers and more. Soon, they will be offering new group fitness classes, boxing, and kickboxing to their services. All classes are included in the center’s membership plans.

For those involved in or looking to become a part of the CrossFit community, WCF has trainers specifically for this. CrossFit is a varied, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) type of workout that combines strength and conditioning exercises, functional movements, and aerobics for remarkable results, where progression is the main goal.

WCF recognizes that when you join a fitness center, it is an investment in yourself. As passionate members of the fitness community, they are also invested in that success, and are excited to provide the guidance you need to ensure that your goals are met. They believe in holding you accountable for getting the most out of your membership and are truly dedicated to helping you achieve the best version of yourself.

“We really are trying to build a great community of like-minded people here who are interested in health and fitness,” says Jennifer.

“We give you all the tools. We have everything you need. You just need to bring yourself and a willingness to work toward your goal and we will help you make that happen.”
