Theater-lovers rejoice! Fitchburg State University invites everyone to experience the new Forge Theater Lab production, Generations. Enjoy new and unique plays that range from thought-provoking dramas to nonsensical comedy show, all written by FSU alumni.

FSU professor, Kelly Morgan, founded The Forge Theater Lab this year after asking university alumni to help him create the company. Their goal is to create new stage productions that provoke conversations among audiences, allow artists to develop their ideas and give them a platform to share their ideas.

This show will be the premier event for the company. Generations will feature 10 short plays, about 10 minutes or less, from 20 years of FSU talent.

The playwrights come from New York, Chicago and across Massachusetts and include works from Andy Bayiates, a 1997 FSU graduate who now lives in Chicago and has had his plays produced all over the country, and Samantha deManbey, of Fitchburg, a 2011 graduate whose play Fausted was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Other writers featured include Peter Anderegg, of Ashburnham, a current teacher at FSU; Matt Cogswell, of Boylston; John Paul Colaianni II, of Hudson; Mary Darling, of Southbridge; Nina DiRusso, of Leominster; Erik Nikander, of Brookline, NH; Ashley Lauren Rogers, of New York City; and Ian Vincent, of New Bedford.

While all of the plays are written by alumni, there is a mix of 23 alumni and six current students working together on this production. From Larry Hill, 1967 FSU graduate, to Stephanie Bisono, a 2017 graduate, there is a large range of perspectives and insights working together.

Generations will be performed Dec. 6, 7 and 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the McKay Theater, 67 Rindge Road, Fitchburg. Admission is $10 and $5 for current students. Purchase tickets at theforgetheaterlab.org or with cash at the door.
