Are you interested in strengthening your leadership skills and benefiting the Worcester community at the same time? Leadership Worcester, sponsored by Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and Greater Worcester Community Foundation, is accepting applications for the 2018-19 class. Leadership Worcester is a program that gives opportunities to promising new professionals who aspire to take on and learn from an active leadership role in the Worcester community.
Timothy P. Murray, president and CEO of Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce said, “It’s an exciting time of revitalization for the entire Worcester community. Identifying and cultivating strong leaders from all sectors in Central Massachusetts is an important component to that rejuvenation – one that the Worcester Regional Chamber and the Greater Worcester Community Foundation take pride in.”
Participants who are chosen gain a first-hand understanding of critical issues that face Worcester, while also building the professional skills they need that contribute to civic advancement. The program is searching for applicants who bring a strong background in leadership responsibilities, eagerness, passion and commitment to make an impact on the local community and making Worcester a leading city.
“Leadership Worcester cultivates relationships across a wide range of sectors, industries and backgrounds. By better understanding the role that each participant plays in the community, they can collaboratively explore civic leadership and why it is critical to our region’s success,” said Ann T. Lisi, president and CEO of Greater Worcester Community Foundation.
The nine-month program starts in September with an overnight retreat. After that, daylong sessions will commence monthly from October to May. Each session will help build an understanding on the critical issues that are faced in Central Massachusetts. Topics include economy, government and overall quality of life.
