Chris Young brought a crowd of screaming, starry-eyed fans to Webster for Indian Ranch’s last summer concert of the year.
The day started off with the National Anthem sung by the young and beautiful Boston country star Jessie Chris, followed by a one-hour performance by Nashville recording artist Tim Charron, which garnered a standing ovation. The crowd was into it from the start, clapping hands and singing along with his cover of “Sweet Home Alabama.” His stage presence showed his experience; at one point he jumped off the stage and sang in the middle of the crowd, slapping hands and interacting with fans.
Minutes before Chris Young came on, I saw him walking to the back of the stage, and a girl yelled out “Marry Me Chris!” He was halfway up the stairs, stopped, turned around and, with a smile, said, “You don’t want me; I have bad credit!”
My experience with country artists is they always have time for their fans and are always about making jokes and having fun ~ what more could you want?
With the crowd on its feet, Young came out singing his hit song “A.M.” I heard a teenage girl scream to her friend, “He sounds just like his CD!”
Throughout his performance, Young joked, told stories and signed autographs, right on stage. Being a country fan myself, even I didn’t realize how many Chris Young songs I know. He won Nashville Star in 2006 and in 2008, came out with the hit songs “The Man I Want to Be,” “Getting You Home” and “Voices.” In 2011, Young scored again with “I Can Take It From There,” “Tomorrow,” Neon” and “You.” His newest album, A.M., brought us “Aw Naw” and “Who I Am With You.” As the crowd sang along to these songs, it sounded like karaoke night, slightly out of tune with Young and his band, but full of excitement.
“Chris Young was so much fun! He is loyal to his fans, and you can tell he enjoys being on stage. I’m a true fan” said one Lowell, Mass., fan after getting Young’s autograph.
After the show, as the crew was packing up the truck, I met one of the band members playing a game of corn hole with some fans. He had a beer in hand, wearing a green Boston Strong shirt, and singing along to country music playing on someone’s car speakers in the parking lot.
“All I need is good people and country music to make me happy,” he said as he tossed the bean bag nowhere near his target.
Part of the many, many reasons why Young Country loves Chris so much. I couldn’t begin to explain it all!!!! Just know he is and we treasure him.
I was at this concert and it was outstanding. Being a member of the Chris Young Fan Club, I requested, and was given, a M&G (Meet and Greet) with Chris. I had my picture taken with him and he autographed my copy of his new CD, A.M. It was everything I thought it would be. Indian Ranch was new to us. It’s an outdoor venue and the day was perfect for his concert.
