On March 2, Rise Above Foundation will be hosting its 3rd annual “Fostering Laughs: A Comedy Show to Benefit Children in Foster Care” to raise awareness and support for its mission to provide enriching activities, opportunities, and experiences to youth in the Massachusetts foster care system.

“Fostering Laughs” will be held at the Scandinavian Athletic Club in Shrewsbury and will feature comedians Orlando Baxter, the opening act for national headliner Jo Koy, Alingon Mitra, a finalist at “Last Comix Standing” contest held at Foxwoods Comedy Club and Bar, and Frank Foley, a 20 year veteran of morning radio in Worcester and the host of Frank’s Comedy Safari in Worcester.

The evening is expected to draw 250 attendees and includes a silent auction, refreshments, DJ entertainment and a cash bar. The doors open at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets are $30 or 2 for $50 and are available at www.weriseabove.org. All proceeds from “Fostering Laughs”  will benefit the nearly 10,000 Massachusetts children experiencing foster care.

Founded in 2009, Rise Above is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established to respond to the growing need to give youth in foster care opportunities that will give them a sense of normalcy, provide comfort, and build self-esteem.
