The inspiration for Samuel Adams Merry Mischief, a gingerbread stout, comes from the Dickensian days when winter ales were brewed with seasonal spices to create warming, festive brews. Merry Mischief is a stronger version of those English stouts because of its dark-roasted malts, making it the perfect companion for chilly nights around the fireplace, maybe after a day of hitting the slopes.

To create the authentic gingerbread character, Samuel Adams also added a touch of wheat and oats, as well as a hearty helping of spices including cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and, of course, ginger. Balancing out the spiciness are the sweet and roasty notes of cocoa and traditional English hops, East-Kent Goldings and Fuggies, which add subtle earthiness and depth to the finish.

Merry Mischief, 9% ABV and packaged in a 22-ounce bottle, pairs up wonderfully with traditional holiday fare, but it also compliments less traditional dishes like fried oysters, goat cheese and truffle mac and cheese.

Samuel Adams Merry Mischief is available nationwide for a limited time in the 22-ounce bottle and in limited release on draft … and just one sip will put you in the holiday mood, I promise!
