Following his massive “FIREPOWER TOUR” this past fall ~ which celebrated the launch of his own independent Firepower Records imprint ~ DATSIK returns with the “FIREPOWER RELOADED” Tour, featuring his one-of-a-kind “Vortex” DJ performance booth on select dates. “The Vortex” is packed with groundbreaking, real-time 3D-mapping technology that pushes the evolution of custom visuals and mind-altering effects, taking live electronic music performance to a new level. Locked and loaded, the combination of DATSIK’s dark, dirty dubstep and “Vortex” creator V Squared Labs’ cutting-edge technology will be an explosion of mind-blowing sounds and visuals that need to be seen to be believed ~ get a sample of what “The Vortex” has in store for you here on Billboard.com (bit.ly/Ppme68) and from the inaugural show (youtu.be/wtAruGJZSmg).
“The Vortex” is a full-fledged 3D-mapping experience combining a loose narrative with themes of space, optical art, machines, robots and firepower integrated into a digital drapery of stunning animation. It’s nota concert, not a show, it’s…a ticket into another universe. The visuals will be delivered by V Squared Labs’ self-designed Epic Prime 3D-mapping video server. The visual art content package is designed to be employed at the hands of a VJ who will create a unique experience for each performance. Using the Akai APC 40 and an Apple iPad as control surfaces, VJ Jesse Nikette will perform live along with DATSIK. “The Vortex” will immerse DATSIK inside wild, audio-reactive visual art, while beaming light out towards the audience. It should evoke feelings of falling, inertia and dark psychedelia…you have NEVER seen/felt/heard anything like it.
Joining DATSIK on this leg of the tour are supporting acts Brillz and GRiZ, along with two up-and-coming FIREPOWER acts Barron and Rekoil, who both recently released EPs on the FIREPOWER label.
