A Worcester Landmark Serves a New Generation
Parkway Restaurant & Bar is located at 148 Shrewsbury Street in Worcester. Opened in 1936 as the Parkway Diner, the spot is a beloved Worcester landmark.
In 2006, Mike and John Richard took over ownership from their family, who’d bought the diner in 1956. Brian, their youngest brother, recently came on board and together, dedicated to keeping history alive but also wanting to appeal to a new generation, the three made some changes.
“We converted the dining room into a sports bar in March. We’ve kept the breakfast and lunch crowd, and have gained a new dinner/late night crowd.”
The diner car has remained, but the sports bar includes a bar, high tables and flat screen TVs.
And what are some of the crowd favorites on the menu? “We have pasta specials, fried haddock, calamari, chicken parmesan, sandwiches and burgers. Every dinner item is under $9.95.”
The diner car is open 6am – 2pm and the sports bar opens once the diner closes. Kitchen is open until 10pm and the bar until 2am. Head over and Like them on Facebook!
