If you missed out on the ultimate gamers’ getaway, aka PAX East 2011, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered ~ and you didn’t have to wait in those long lines! Of course, we can’t cover everything that happened, but here are some highlights!

Worcester’s own Becker College showcased a variety of student work including IDA ~ an iPhone game created by Adam DeZago, Shaun Dutton and Brian O’Rourke. In the game, an unknown contagion has been released and your job is to find the ingredients for the cure by following clues and unlocking various challenges. Participants of PAX who brought the completed game to the Becker booth were entered to win one of three game systems ~ a PS3, Xbox 360 or a Wii!

And speaking of games, here’s a sneak peak at some awesome new titles:

Just out in April: Here’s a title you probably haven’t heard in a few years ~ Portal! Welcome yourself back to Aperture Laboratories where you will team up with your favorite, comical robots ~ now with names! Atlas and P-body will guide you (so long as they don’t kill each other first) through new areas of the Aperture Laboratories with new portal puzzles. Did I mention the best part? There’s co-op multiplayer!

Coming this month: The makers of Grand Theft Auto ~ Rockstar Games ~ are at it again, but this time it doesn’t involve stealing cars and killing people ~ at least not directly. L.A. Noire is a crime solving game which takes place in the 1940’s. As a member of the L.A.P.D, your job is to examine crime scenes ~ which are fully interactive, and then use that evidence to interrogate subjects (some of which are a little less than truthful) and figure out who’s to blame for each crime.

Coming in June: If you’re looking for something a little more hands-free, Child of Eden offers up exactly that. Child of Eden is a multi-sensory shooter / rhythm action game that utilizes the players’ hands as the controller to destroy a virus that is terrorizing Eden. The game features bright, fast paced graphics, and an amazing soundtrack, and is similar to that of Super StarDust HD.
Looks like I know how I’ll be spending my summer vacation… 🙂
