Crescent Moon Has Made Their Award-Winning Snowshoes Even Better!

By Rick Garner

Crescent Moon snowshoes, with its unique SPL binding system and lightweight “Made in USA” frames, has changed the landscape of the snowshoe market and garnered top industry awards ~ and this year is no different.

After its binding systems were selected as the “Best Binding” on the market by Backpacker Magazine, the publication has again turned its spotlight on Crescent Moon, this time recognizing its Kids’ snowshoe as “Best Of” in the category for the 2010-11 season. This comes on the heels of Trail Runner Magazine also highlighting the Gold 12 for its annual “Gear of the Year” award for the 2009/2010 season.

1Crescent Moon’s SPL binding, featured on all of its Gold series of snowshoes, has been cited over and over as the best binding system available within the snowshoe market and a superior binding has been a primary focus since the brand’s inception in 1997.

Crescent Moon Snowshoes’ most recent binding innovation is the enlarged version of the SPL (single-pull-loop) adjustable binding system which can accommodate snowboard boots and other large configuration foot-wear.

The SPL binding is unique in that it captures your foot in all directions with a fully adjustable harness system made of a flexible polymer.   Using a simple, but very effective combination of over-the-foot cam locking buckles and the only ratcheting heel adjustment on the market, the SPL binding provides unparalleled support and control on all terrains.

The SPL is made with water-proof materials so it will not freeze, or stretch, or come out of adjustment while it’s in use.

Crescent Moon is dedicated to an environmentally considerate operation and makes its products in its factory using wind-powered energy.  The snowshoes are also made without PVC, a common component in most other brands of snowshoes, and the company recycles nearly 100 percent of its waste products including aluminum, stainless steel, cardboard and other materials.

Crescent Moon products are available locally at 753 Donald J. Lynch Blvd in Marlborough (508- 481-2107) and at 70 Worcester/Providence Turnpike in Millbury (508 – 865-6776).
