When the more than 66,000 votes from craft beer fans were counted at the sixth annual Beer Lover’s Choice® contest, the winner was clear: Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye took the prize.
Drinkers evaluated the Beer Lover’s Choice contending brews on five different characteristics: color, aroma, taste, mouth-feel, and finish. Both the Belgian IPA and Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye™ received high accolades, but in the end, the Rye had it with 63% of the vote.
Jim Koch, Samuel Adams’ founder and brewer, shared that “Each year, we’re amazed by how many drinkers across the country participate in the Beer Lover’s Choice program. The contest gives craft beer lovers an opportunity to enjoy new brews and broaden their palates with styles like this year’s winner, Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye.”
And just what can you expect from the victorious Revolutionary Rye? It’s an American-style rye ale with a deep reddish hue, brewed with both rye and roasted malt for a spicy character. The slight roastiness and sweetness from the malt is complemented by citrus and floral notes from the combination of German Hallertau Mittelfrueh and American Ahtanum, Centennial and Amarillo hops. The rye imparts additional complexity by adding a spicy and slightly dry finish to the medium-bodied brew.
Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye has been included in the new 12-pack Samuel Adams® American Originals Variety Pack, which also includes Samuel Adams Boston Lager, Samuel Adams Noble Pils, Samuel Adams Scotch Ale, Samuel Adams Irish Red Ale, Samuel Adams White Ale and is available through March.
