After Tours with Lilith Fair and Norah Jones
Her Live From Soho Set Is Scheduled For August 10th Release
GRAMMY®-winning artist Corinne Bailey Rae has extended her North American tour, announcing eight new headlining dates; she’ll play The Beach at Governors Island in New York City (8/6), KanawhaPlaza in Richmond, VA (8/7) and a series of shows in September. The dates bookend her previously announced outings with Lilith Fair (8/8 – 8/16) and Norah Jones (8/19 – 8/27). She’ll wrap up her tour with a performance at the Life Is Good Festival taking place September 11 & 12 at The Blue Hills in Canton MA, just outside of Boston. This one-of-a-kind benefit festival has a goal of raising $1 Million to heal and strengthen children facing life-threatening challenges, including violence, illness, and extreme poverty. Bailey Rae, who was recently nominated for a BET Award, will also appear at numerous international festivals over the summer.
“Rae was sublime, proving yet again why she’s one of the best live performers around today,” said laweekly.com in a review of her sold-out show at Los Angeles’ Vibiana earlier this year. “It was so powerful that it felt gauche to applaud her heartache,” said The Boston Globe in a recent concert review while the New York Post observed: “you’d have to have been made of stone not to have felt the heartbreak in her lyrics and voice.” “With a delicate balance of hope, heartache and humor, British singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae soared through a soulful performance,” said the Seattle Post Globe.
The tour marks her second North American trek since the release of The Sea, which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and elicited widespread critical acclaim. The New York Times hailed it as “a major creative leap from her debut” and it was awarded four stars by People and The Los Angeles Times. “Her latest is both reckoning and rebirth….confronting death with the greatest weapon: life, fully lived,” noted Rolling Stone.
The acclaimed public television music series “Live from the Artists Den” captured Corinne in concert at New York City’s Hiro Ballroom last December and will air the episode during the week of July 26th. Check local listings for details or visit www.TheArtistsDen.com, where you can also catch a one-song preview of the show. She performed last week at a special concert in the East Room of the White House as Sir Paul McCartney was presented with the third Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The program, taped by WETA Washington, D.C. as part of the “In Performance at the White House” series, will air on PBS stations nationwide on Wednesday, July 28th, at 8 p.m. EDT (check local listings).
Bailey Rae’s single “Closer” has become a fixture in the Top 10 at Urban AC radio, marking her first Top 10 hit at the format. As evidence of her newfound standing in the format, she will take part in the Tom Joyner Family Reunion on September 4th in Orlando, FL. The Labor Day weekend gathering is the signature annual event for Joyner’s Urban AC morning show, which is the top syndicated program at the format, carried on well over 100 stations nationally. She has also just lensed a video for the song with celebrated video director Adria Petty that premiered at the end of June.
Bailey Rae’s Live From Soho set, recorded earlier this year at the Apple Store Soho, will be available on the iTunes Store beginning August 10th. Catch her on 9/12 in Canton, MA at The Blue Hills – Life is Good Festival.
