The NET, an organization of Worcester-area business professionals with a commitment to reinvesting in the community, will hold its Second Annual “The Net” Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Tournament on Saturday, April 3 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Country Club, 95 Armsby Rd. The $100 per person buy-in includes prizes for the top ten finishers, light fare, cash bar, silent auction and raffles. The first 125 players registered and paid by March 21 will be entered in a raffle to win a $500 cash prize. General admission to the event costs $10 and includes light refreshments and cash bar.
All proceeds will benefit Why Me, a registered 501©3 non-profit organization that has been supporting children with cancer and their families for the past 24 years. Why Me provides emotional and financial assistance as well as housing at their Sherry’s House facility in Worcester for children in treatment and their families. Last year’s event raised an incredible $13,000 for this great cause.
“When we set out to form The NET, we had a much broader view of community involvement than other professional networking groups that we had collectively been a part of,” said Tom Valentine, president of the NET and an advisor with FMG Financial in Worcester. Valentine is also a member of the Board of Directors for Why Me.
The NET was founded in June 2008 as a professional business association comprised of individuals in central Massachusetts who demonstrate integrity and overall product or service excellence within their respective professions. The group’s founders and officers include vice president Dave Samara of Prospect Mortgage, treasurer Tony Tyan of Mancuso and Nowak Insurance and marketing officer Paul Bessette of Get Set Marketing.
