Any bride who is saying yes to the dress this year should know the hottest wedding styles are less about the frills and more about just being chill. Here are the top five looks for 2010:
1. Well Thought-Out Sparkles: Rather than walk down the aisle in a dress that looks like someone may have taken a Bedazzler to it, this year’s brides prefer to keep their shimmer embellishments minimal and tasteful. Silver and gold threads are sparingly placed, while crystals are often confined to just one area (such as the neckline or caplet) ~ proving that when it comes to puttin’ on the glitz, less is always more.
2. She’s Got Legs: Brides sure aren’t shying away from showing a bit of leg. Short, 60s inspired shifts balance out their generous display of gorgeous gams by keeping sleeve lengths long, while knee-length skirts are tasteful with or without the extra coverage up top.
3. Totally Bow-dacious: Now that the 80’s are three decades behind us (!), how on earth could a bride wear a bow, and still impress her beau, in the year 2010? One ~ and only one ~ large, strategically placed bow becomes a nice accent on an otherwise slimmed-down silhouette. That’s how!
4. Vintage Vixens: A touch of old-fashioned romance gone modern is easy to come by when a bride selects styles with floral embroidery in colors that contrast the gown, or with striking panels of vintage-inspired lace. This look really stands the test of time.
5. Off The Radar: Growing numbers of brides are choosing to just forego the whole traditional thing and instead go for the quirky and unique. From geektastic theme weddings (held Twilight saga fanatics, Halo video gamers, and Trekkies alike) to same-sex couples wearing whatever they feel best expresses their individuality, let’s hear it for those brides (and grooms) who choose to let their freak flags fly this year!
