Taking over the DCU Center and The Palladium once again and wreaking ghoulish havoc in the name of horror music and movie fans alike, this year’s Rock-n-Shock line-up of bands and horror icons is scarier than ever! Check out rockandshock.com…if you dare!
While we’re talking about The Palladium, let’s talk utterly gross. GWAR, the scariest, most fetid, delightfully disgusting band ever is offending at The Palladium on Oct. 31. If you live through a GWAR show, you pretty much won’t be scared of anything ever again.
Are cemeteries more your thing? OK, then grab some friends/fiends and brave Spider Gates Cemetery in Leicester. Called Spider Gates because it has eight gates and the wrought irons at the entrance are surrounded by creepy spiderweb patters, this cemetery is rumored to be dangerous and drenched in the paranormal. Those who’ve gone inside have reported hearing whispers and noticing leaves moving around even when there’s no wind. As they got closer to the eighth gate, some felt someone brushing against them; others have reported seeing people walking aimlessly around graves. No wonder that in 2006 Spider Gates was rated one of Travel Channel’s top haunted places in the US. You can also screw up the courage to visit in Blood Cemetery in Charlton; it got its name because urban legend holds that the tombstones within actually bleed when the moon is full.
Like your scares to be a little more…tangible? Your first clue that Barrett’s Haunted Mansion is going to be good (in the evil sense, of course) is on its website, www.bhmansion.com ~ just check out the Photos section and see what I mean. The pix are the perfect teaser to the mansion itself that’s designed to deliver the maximum scare factor with ghouls, shrieks, blood and more! Head to the site for more info on what’s in store…and on the hours of [insert diabolical laugh here] operation. Or call one of the Mansion Ghouls at 781–871-4573.
Spooky World really is a New England tradition, and its collaboration with Nightmare New England, has only made the tradition better ~ probably why they were selected as one of America’s Best Haunts.
