The Foothills Theatre Season Kicks Off With the Delightful…
Kander and Ebb’s “The World Goes Round!”
Russell Garrett, Artistic Director of Foothills Theatre, gave us a sneak peak of the first show of the season, an upbeat revue that is both an audience and critics’ favorite. The World Goes Round comes to the Foothills stage from one of theatre’s most prolific and talented theatre songwriting teams, John Kander and Fred Ebb (whose first song ever was recorded by Ms. Barbra Streisand herself, and who scored the musical ~ and subsequent film ~ Cabaret) and features music from their musicals The Rink, Woman of the Year, The Act, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, and their phenomenal hit Chicago (which, along with Cabaret, was also a huge hit at Foothills!) as well as the TV classic Liza with a ‘Z’ and the movies Funny Lady and New York, New York. The World Goes Round also marks the return of five talented performers who have become darlings of the Worcester audience: the three women ~ Rebekah Jacobs (Beehive, The Musical of Musicals), Alisa D. Miles (Beehive, Buddy Holly), and Amy Barker (The Musical of Musicals) all bring terrific singing voices as well as hilarious comic ability to their performances. The men ~ Andrew Giordano (Evita, The Rocky Horror Show) and Jon Peterson (The Rocky Horror Show, George M. Cohan Tonight!) ~ dazzle with their singing and dancing.
“The World Goes Round: The Songs of Kander and Ebb” is great fun and runs from Sept. 22 – Oct. 14, so head to www.foothillstheatre.com to reserve your tickets!
