There’s a new restaurant taking over a familiar spot at 112 Green Street. The Green Bamboo opened its doors on February 1 in the spot that previously housed Coral Seafood. The restaurant specializes in Vietnamese cuisine and prides itself on its authentic dishes.

Owners and sisters Teresa Lai and Linda Le explain that they use only the freshest meat, seafood, and veggies to make their dishes authentic and delicious. The extensive menu includes popular favorites such as spring rolls, pho (noodle soup), stir fried noodles, papaya salad, pot stickers, limeade, rice and vermicelli dishes, and several vegetarian options.

The Green Bamboo also specializes in Lau, which is a very healthy hot pot dish similar to a fondue. It features your choice of meat as well as assorted vegetables, udon or egg noodles, and a simmering broth, all oil free. As the broth simmers, you dip your veggies and meat into the hot pot and cook them yourself. Special dipping sauces ~ garlic, scallion, hot peppers, soy sauce, and satay ~ are also provided for added flavor. Eating the Lau is supposed to add to your dining experience and create a sense of togetherness amongst you and your dining companions.

The restaurant is casual and seats up to 70 people. It has a full bar and a warm, homey atmosphere. The Green Bamboo is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; it is closed Tuesdays. Come by on the weekends for their special brunch. Ms. Lai explains, “With Vietnamese food, especially the soup, you can eat it any time of the day.”

Green Bamboo is very family friendly but is also a great place for a first date or a night out with friends. The spacious dining area and prompt service make for a great experience anytime. For more information check out the website at www.greenbamboo.biz.
