Worcester will get a new live music venue in July when a remodeled London Billiards & Nightclub, 70 James Street, debuts its new performance stage. The venue plans to test a variety of musical styles before committing to a long-term schedule. “We want to try everything and see the response of the people who come there, then we’ll decide which bands to use,” says LB manager Tham. Interested acts should call (508) 799-7665. Meanwhile, DJs Chris Haldor and Curtis from Wiley Entertainment continue to provide dance sounds on Fridays and karaoke fun on Saturday evenings.

Worcester Music Awards’ Best Female Vocalist Lisa Marie has teamed up with the Ray Bryant Band to bring a new weekly blues jam to town. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments to J.J.’s House of Blues, 395 Grafton St., Worcester, every Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m.

You can now take DJ Jack Frost, who spins hip-hop, R & B, and reggae sounds for the 18+ crowd every Thursday at Club Voodoo, 90 Commercial Street, home with you. Frost has a new series of mix tapes, “I Mean Business Volumes 1-5,” that’s available upon request.

DJ Reckless ~ who’s been featured on MTV and has been spending lots of time in LA and NYC, has begun booking top headlining DJs into Fitchburg’s newly expanded Compound, 281 Lunenburg Street. DJ Nathan hosts Tuesday night’s cutting edge dance party, a rotating crew rocks Thursday’s college night, and on most weekends, Reckless is joined by DJ Supa on Fridays while DJ Ramma assists with “Anna’s 978 House Party” on Saturday. Live music fans, don’t fret ~ national and local acts still rock the fort upstairs.

Game on indeed! Action Geek Doug Chapel’s created two game-themed nights at Ralph’s and Vincent’s where participants can play for prizes donated by area sponsors. Competition in board games that include “Backgammon Blitz,” “Pictionary,” and timed “Speed” versions of Monopoly, Uno, and Parcheesi starts at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays at Ralph’s (where the competition is held in the courtyard ~ weather permitting ~ and is accompanied by cool montages of sound by OddSquadMusik DJs Joe and Brenda) and 6 p.m. on Sundays at Vincent’s (with sign-in beginning an hour earlier). Jon Short will be providing complimentary blues most evenings. Updated standings will be listed on the Ralph’s and Vincent’s web sites as well as at Dsquared.org/gamenight.htm. Big “mystery game” tournaments are scheduled for July 30 at Vincent’s and August 1 at Ralph’s.
