Great catch for Zipango. We here that the popular Shrewsbury Street sushi bar, Zipango, has been sold. The new owner is Kenzo Pahn who has been sushi master at Willy’s Steakhouse in Shrewsbury. The restaurant will sport a new Asian look and a slightly different name — Zipango Bar & Grille by Kenzo. Kenzo is a big name in the sushi world, and has a great following in the area.

New Corner Lunch bunch. The Corner Lunch, located at 133 Lamartine Street, Worcester has a new husband and wife team of owners, Charlie and Elaine Boukalis. The popular diner, which is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch, will feature some Greek specialties prepared by the owners’ talented mothers.

Chain, chain, chain. T.G.I Friday’s recently opened at the new mall on Route 146 in Millbury. This is actually one of the first stores in the mall to open its doors. The Worcester area has seen an explosion of chain restaurants in the last few months!

Caffe Dolce in the morning. Caffe Dolce, on Shrewsbury Street, well-loved by late night crowds for caffeine drinks galore and calorie-rich desserts, is now open at 7 a.m. every weekday, offering coffees, cappuccinos, espressos and lattes to go along with bagels, muffins and pasties.

Club Car on the road. The Club Car Restaurant, located on Stafford Street in Worcester, hoped to move to a June Street location recently until it was turned down by the city’s License Commission. Word is that Club Car is looking to park at 64 Water Street in the old Mendel Block.

Two Cousins at Struck. Two Cousins Pasta & Grille Restaurant will open at the site of the former Struck Café on Chandler Street. This will be the second Two Cousins in the Worcester area — the first is located on Route 30 in Grafton. According to Segundo Campoverdi, owner/chef, the Chandler Street restaurant will feature fine Italian dining. Look for an opening later this month!
