Union Station restaurant features valet parking
Union Station, the Restaurant opens: The newest addition to Worcester’s upscale dining scene opened at the end of April. Union Station, the Restaurant is located in Worcester’s Union Station and has a Great Gatsby-esque, turn of the last century feel to it. Rich dark wood, dark carpeting and Victorian lighting along with old oil paintings give the place an elegant look. The best part is you don’t have to worry about parking, since they have valet service, which will take your car and park it for you.
Paul Mac’s reopens: Paul Mac’s Diner, which began the culinary revolution on Shrewsbury Street, reopened on April 24 after several months of renovations. Paul McMahon spent the winter giving the place a new look. However he’ll turn the day to day operation over to his son Chris. The menu will be expanded, but the prices will remain the same. Oh, and for you folks, who like the waitresses, we have good news. They’ll all be back, with their same famous attitude!
IL Forno now in Westboro: The folks who brought you IL Forno in Fitchburg will soon be opening a third restaurant in Westboro. IL Forno number three will be located in the Westboro Shopping Plaza on Route 9. Worcester diners who have traveled to Fitchburg to sample this great Italian food will have to wait until the middle of May to shorten their trip.
The Irish Times has a new owner and a new look: Richard Sharp of Boston recently purchased The Irish Times and has some changes in mind. Nora Coyle, formerly of Donegal, has been promoted as the new chef. Nora, who hails from the Emerald Isle, will be replacing the Irish food with a new menu, which will include more pasta dishes and some lighter fare. Also look for a complete makeover and a new name — The Times.
Amore Café: This popular Shrewsbury Street eatery has a new chef. Tiague Joseph, formerly the sous chef at the 111 Chop House, has moved across the street to Amore Café. Joseph, who is self-taught formerly, worked at the Sole Proprietor and the Struck Café. According to David Roy, Amore’s owner, Joseph will introduce a late night menu and more American dishes than were on Amore’s menu previously. Joseph replaces David Zanoni who had been at the restaurant for 5 years.
Peppercorns spice: Rumor has it that Anthony Joseph and Mark Smith, both formerly of Peppercorns, have left to open their own place in Medway. Joseph was the creative force behind the food at Peppercorns and Smith worked the front of the house.
