As the holiday season fast approaches, with it comes exciting seasonal events. The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory for the Performing Arts hosts events and productions each year to get the local audience into the holiday spirit. The lineup for this year includes a wide range of performances, from the traditional classics to more modern displays of seasonal cheer. 

Cookies & Tea with Clara from the Nutcracker

When: Sunday 11/05/23 at 10:30 am, 12 pm, 1:30 pm, & 3 pm

Cost: $25 per ticket

Details: Do you remember being swept away by the magical world of the Nutcracker as a kid? Introduce the little ones in your life to this classic story with this interactive meet-and-greet with Clara, the Nutcracker, and a few of their friends. Not only will the characters tell the story of the Nutcracker in this hour-long event, but your kids will also get a chance to dance, take photos, and eat cookies with Clara. Parents must attend the event with their kids but don’t have to pay for a ticket.

Details: Experience dancing, music, and holiday magic when you and your family see this classic Christmas ballet. Follow Clara, the ballerina, as she uncovers enchantment under the Christmas tree at her family’s Christmas Eve celebration. With the set and lighting created by Broadway designers and live music from the Hanover Theatre Nutcracker Orchestra, your senses will enter a wonderland as soon as the show begins. 

The 2023 Boston Pops Holiday Tour

When: Saturday 12/02/23 at 8 pm

Cost: $69-$149 per ticket

Details: Listening to music is one of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit. Watch and listen as the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and their conductors, Keith Lockhart and James Burton, perform the joyful and renowned Holiday Pops concert. As the Boston Pops perform both classic Christmas carols and modern arrangements that celebrate the snowy season, the premier Metropolitan Chorale will join in with vocals to support the merriment.  

A Magical Cirque Christmas

When: Sunday 12/03/23 at 4 pm & 7:30 pm

Cost: $40-$95 per ticket

Details: A Magical Cirque Christmas is a dazzling and spectacular holiday special every family member will enjoy. Artistes like acrobats, tightrope walkers, and hoop performers put on a captivating show in festive costumes. Some of the most talented circus performers in the country come together to show off their skills as classic and contemporary holiday music plays in the background. Join an awe-inspired crowd to witness this world-class performance. 

A Christmas Carol

When: Saturday 12/16/23 at 2 pm & 7 pm, Sunday 12/17/23 at 1 pm (Sensory Friendly Performance) & 6 pm (Audio Description and ASL), Wednesday 12/20/23 at 7 pm, Friday 12/22/23 at 7 pm, Saturday 12/23/23 at 2 pm & 7 pm 

Cost: $16-$62 per ticket

Details: This classic holiday production returns to the Hanover with a bang this holiday season, with new wonders like looming mist and remarkable aerial stunts. Visit the main stage this December to see new and returning cast members perform this reflective, empathetic, and mystical story. Watch as the miserly Mr. Scrooge contends with three spirits on Christmas Eve. On Sunday, December 17th, those with sensory needs can witness the magic without fear of overstimulation for the production’s Sensory-Friendly performance.
