WENDI RICHTER

Obviously I love fashion, I mean, this column is just the tip of the iceberg for my endless amounts of style knowledge. A common misconception I hear is that fashion has to be painful or stuffy. This is simply not true, there are so many comfortable styles that you can wear around the house, to the store and even Thanksgiving Day dinner. Of course you want to teach your family and loved ones a lesson and show up to the holidays looking good as all hell, but let’s check out the comfiest, most stylish options.

Let’s have a conversation about Old Navy’s “High Waisted Dynamic Fleed Wide Leg Pants”. These are PLEATED sweatpants for under $50 available in black or grey. With their high-waisted design, they effortlessly flatter various body shapes while offering a secure and comfortable fit. The dynamic fleece material not only promises an exceptional level of warmth and softness but also ensures an unparalleled degree of flexibility, which means you can stuff your face with turkey and not feel any buttons aggressively poking into your stomach.

Okay now that we all agree sweatpants are the way to go for Thanksgiving, let’s dress them up with a cozy top. Let’s totally switch gears here with a trip to Athleta.com, bring your credit card. I love Old Navy because it’s affordable, but Athleta is a treat and you’re always worth it. The Pranayama Long Wrap comes in five earth toned shades for a timeless look. This elegant wrap is both comfortable and chic, and can be customized for any outfit. Yes $99 for a glorified cardigan is a little expensive, but we are all worth it.

Footwear is kind of a wash for Thanksgiving, everyone usually has that one aunt or yuppie sister in law who insists on having a shoe free house. But you never know, so let’s dive in. I prefer to wear shoes that are easy to slip in and out of when visiting, because if the family drama hits the fan, you can bail quick. Since we’re already on a spending spree, let’s talk about the charmingly bohemian Bolina Crochet Clog. I don’t want to even tell you what these clogs cost, it doesn’t matter money isn’t real. With nearly 20 patterns and colors to choose from, the world is your oysters. Since this hypothetical outfit is on the muted side, I would pick the bright and fun “Beach Stripe”. Their sturdy yet lightweight build provides exceptional support, and their intricately woven crochet patterns add a unique textural dimension, creating a visually captivating look that will absolutely compliment this cozy outfit.

As for the tops, I would pick a soft, flowy black tank top that looks cute untucked. I’ve turned into a tucked in top person, but in this case you definitely want to hide the fact that you’re wearing Old Navy sweatpants. It’s nothing against a pair of ON sweats, it’s just that this outfit should have a loungewear feel, but a red carpet look.

At the end of the day, Thanksgiving is all about enjoying the day with your loved ones, not splitting your pants and looking cute to show everyone that you’re totally together and not terrified of the climate crisis, war or financial collapse. This holiday season is going to be great, and you’re going to look amazing
