Why keratin?

It’s everywhere, keratin treatments, the miracle repair for your dry, damaged and brittle hair. But is it worthy of paying $150+ for? For those who have done them, the answer is YES. Keratin is right for all hair types and textures because keratin is the protein that makes up every strand on your head. If you normally style your hair straight, then you already understand the maintenance of flat ironing your hair and how compromised your hair can become. For those with curly hair, you understand that humidity is not your friend. So what do you need to know about a Keratin treatment?

  • Keratin, the protein your hair is made of, over time breaks down after chemical processes, heat, sun exposure and daily activities.
  • By adding Keratin to your hair and using heat to seal it in, you’re adding essential protein back into your hair that protects it from life.
  • The treatment smooths and softens your hair, reduces your curl up to 42 percent and adds shine and strength.
  • You may need to leave your hair down, unpinned and avoid tucking your hair behind your ears or getting your hair wet for up to 48 hours, depending on the treatment strength.

What do keratin treatments do?

  • After your first wash you will notice immediately a soft and smooth texture.
  • Your hair will have a healthy shine and movement.
  • Your blow drying time will be cut in half.

Regardless of your hair texture, density or porosity, keratin treatments are good for all types of hair. Think you might want one? The good news is they are easily accessible at most salons and hairdressing academies. There are many different types and strengths of keratin treatments lasting as little as three weeks or as long as five months, so be sure to ask the right questions to find out which treatment will be right for you, your hair and your lifestyle.
