Calling all Central Massachusetts home gardeners! Ready to take your knowledge and skills to the next level? A new fall session of the popular 10-week Home Horticulture Series of educational lectures has been announced by the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association (MMGA). Previously held in Canton and Boylston, the series will be available in North Grafton for the first time!

“The association started Home Hort in response to gardeners who were interested in our Master Gardener Certification course but whose lifestyles didn’t permit them to attend daytime classes or volunteer,” said MMGA Home Horticulture Series Coordinator Chris Gatti, “For them – as well as for novice gardeners – the Home Hort Series offers a streamlined, informal format: 90 minute evening classes, no homework or testing and no volunteering.”

With the cost of the program being $250 per person, participants will be qualified to attend all 10 classes at Brigham Hill Community Farm in North Grafton. Classes will be held on ten consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m., Sept. 12-Nov. 28. There will be no lectures on Sept. 26 or Nov. 21 due to holidays. The lectures will cover the same topics studied by Master Gardeners, along with fundamentals such as how plants work, building great soil and practical how-to’s like combating weeds, diseases, pests and more!

Gardeners with some experience and even novices will be able to refresh, refine and expand their gardening knowledge and skills to be able to prep for planning next year’s garden!

The Massachusetts Master Gardener Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to share knowledge and experience with the public through outreach programs in education, horticulture and gardening; to provide the Master Gardener Training Program to interested members of the public and to provide graduates of the Master Gardener Training Program with educational and practical opportunities to extend their knowledge and interests in gardening and related topics.
