Lyricist and singer Mike Hranica spoke recently with Pulse about his upcoming concert at the Palladium this October with band Devil Wears Prada. Called No Sun, No Moon – Veil of Maya, the concert tour journeys more recent discography while also tracing back within a tour documentary film taking on the span of their past 12 years as a band.

After answering a few surface- questions, Hranica acknowledged the role of songwriting in all this, with the tour as a focus but not a limit to creative output and generation of new material. Drawing basis from a variety of sources, be it books, current events and their impacts, fiction, and artistry itself, DWP isn’t singularly a Christian metal core band, but also exists inter connectedly – historically it might be said that they don’t typically splinter away from ideas for the sake of getting a song, album, documentary, and so forth done and out of the picture.

Recounting the malleable state of the music and its outset as fluid in form and layered in scope, Hrenica addressed in the brief interview the emergent reality of that lightbulb artists often or not so often times refer back to within a song, its idea, maybe a sketch of what its theme may be. Inn this case it could possibly be a concept for No Sun, No Moon or Mike’s recent solo project, God Alone. The latter of which feels sparser while it keeps a quality of harmonic resonance, both lyrically and sonically.
