Worcester Historical Museum, Airspray and Worcester Pride will present Steve Cadwell in Wild and Precious, a one-man, multimedia performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, in the Museum’s Fletcher Auditorium.

This memorable production is held in recognition of LGBTQ pride month and to honor the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which set in motion the Gay Rights movement. Wild and Precious features costumes, dance, poetry, songs and stories as it celebrates the personal resilience of a gay man’s journey through sexual awakening, mental breakdown and personal acceptance. This performance is free and open to the public.

“We’re so honored to bring Wild and Precious to Worcester in collaboration with WHM and Worcester Pride,” said Airspray co-founder, Ashley Emerson Gilbert. Airspray is dedicated to creating a series of queer community events throughout Worcester.

Wild and Precious chronicles landmark moments in the Gay Rights movement, from Stonewall to the victory for marriage equality in the State of Massachusetts in 2004, through the experiences of one man.

“An individual’s perspective is often employed to understand the context of larger historical events. In many ways Wild and Precious is part of the oral history tradition, but with greater dramatic flair,” said Chad Sirois, communications manager for WHM, when asked about the Museum’s participation in this event.

While this presentation of Wild and Precious is free and open to the public, donations to Worcester Pride will be accepted at the event.
