Online dating is more mainstream than ever, so AYI.com analyzed more than16 million interactions between its users in 2013 and found some helpful tips on what women are looking when they head to dating sites.
1. Size does matter to women ~ even in online dating.
It’s not surprising that women love tall men. However, AYI.com found that with every inch a man’s height decreases, his chances of getting contacted by a woman online drop dramatically, and vice versa. The ideal height for a man looking for love online is 6 feet, 2 inches, as they are 17 percent more likely to be contacted than a man with the average height of 5 feet, 8 inches.
2. Women love bald guys.
AYI.com analyzed more than 1 million interactions between its members to reveal which hair colors women prefer the most. Believe it or not, women love bald men! In fact, women between 30 and 60 prefer bald men by 9 percent to all other hair colors.
3. Black women give the most love, Asian women get it.
When men are reaching out to women online, black women are the most responsive. In fact, black women on AYI.com are 34 percent more likely than any other race to respond to a man online, while Asian women are the least likely to respond. Ironically, Asian women are the most preferred by men online and are 61 percent more likely than any other race to receive a response from men.
4. There is a magic opening line women respond to.
After analyzing more than 2.9 million messages from their users, AYI.com discovered that the phrase to get the most responses from women was simply, “Hey, where are you from originally?” This magic line is 75 percent more likely to get a reply than the average “hi” or “hello.”
5. Women of all ages embrace their inner “cougar.”
Based on 400,000 interactions, AYI.com determined that its female users were 17 percent more likely to respond to a man 5 percent younger than a man who is 5 percent older than her and 47 percent more likely to respond to a man 15 percent younger than 15 percent older than her.
6. Bonus: Location matters!
For fun, AYI.com analyzed more than 4 million interactions from users around the world to find out where women are most likely to respond to messages from men online. They found that women in the United States are the most comfortable reaching out to men online than any other country. Furthermore, women in the U.S. are 45 percent more likely to contact a man online than women in any of AYI.com’s top nine countries, including Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
