Worcester’s premier arts festival, stART on the Street, will return to Worcester’s Canal District on June 2 for its second consecutive Spring Edition event.
Expect to see more than 200 area artists and crafters, three stages of music and performance, a dozen food vendors and trucks, a youth market, kids’ activities and more on Green and Harding streets June 2. In addition to a variety of entertainment, there will be a food court that will include vegan and organic options.
As with last spring, stART will use the urban landscape to celebrate Worcester, with something to see in each alley and parking lot along the street. Many area stores, bars and restaurants will open their doors to join in the festivities.
StART coordinator Jason Macierowski was introduced to stART last June, and he said that he “loved the fact that it was on Green Street. Somehow, it not only blended perfectly into that area but also seemed to magnify the Canal District and its establishments into something much bigger than just the area or stART.”
In 2012, more than 80,000 people attended stART’s three festivals, which feature local artists and crafters showing and selling their handmade wares. In September, stART also celebrated its 10th anniversary and was awarded the key to the city of Worcester for its contribution to the local art culture and economy.
StART is a nonprofit organization run solely by volunteers. The second annual stART on the Street: Canal District Spring Edition will be from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, June 2, with a rain date of June 9. Area street parking is available, as is $1 parking at Union Station. Several ATMs are within walking distance. For more information, visit stARTontheStreet.org.
