Fame is coming at a fast and furious speed for pop artist Outasight. It’s taken years of blood, sweat and tears, along with hours of intense dedication and studio time to get him where he is today, but victory is tasting pretty sweet.
The New York-bred artist is currently on tour supporting his debut album, Nights Like These; released in November 2012 via Warner Bros. Records, the album features his platinum hit single “Tonight Is The Night,” which Outasight has performed on “The X Factor,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” “90210” and during half-time of the NHL All-Star Game alongside Drake. Outasight signed with Warner Bros. in 2009 and according to him, it’s been crazy.
“The experience has been a rollercoaster ride, but it’s been extremely rewarding,” Outasight, 29, says. “I spent some time in the artist development stage and I was nervous for a while that I’d never get the chance to even put out a record. But when I finally got my chance, and the song, “Tonight is the Night” really took off, it made me realize how powerful a major label can be in terms of publicity and radio. All of the opportunities I’ve been given, all of the places that I’ve gotten to see – it’s a beautiful thing and I’m grateful that [Warner Bros.] believed in me. It was worth the wait.”
“Tonight is the Night” became the #1 most-added song on Top 40 radio in its first week and has been featured in national ad campaigns for Pepsi, Honda and Pizza Hut. Its fun-loving, party attitude attracts listeners who are looking for a carefree good time and Outasight serves it up hot. Even with an intense tour schedule, he still intends to find time to keep on writing and recording on the road. And this pop phenom still finds time for charitable outreach.
“I’ve had chances to visit Ronald McDonald Houses, I’ve been to a few different children’s hospitals,” Outasight says. “Recently I did a show up in Richmond around Christmas time where we raised about $60,000 for Christmas gifts for kids. If it has to do with kids, I’m happy to do anything to help.”
When Outasight isn’t creating eclectic hits, performing, or helping raise money or awareness for his favorite causes, he’s always on the lookout for new and kick-butt music. Right now, he’s loving Lorde, an artist from New Zealand, and UK’s Disclosure.
What’s in the near future for Outasight? After a spring and summer of touring and hitting up college shows, he’s off to perform in the Vans Warped Tour. And any remaining energy he has will be put into a possible second album. Keep your ears open!
