Color and line are more than the sum of their parts in the latest works by local artist John Pagano. From diaphanous applications of color and delicate lines to bold brush strokes and saturated hues, each painting is a fresh exploration of these elements of art.

“I want to confront the viewer with a visual challenge, large or small, a dare to question themselves and what they are seeing, and give them an opportunity to bring themselves into the picture,” Pagano said.

Color and Line will be on exhibit at the Davis Art Gallery through March 29.

The Davis Art Gallery is located on the third floor of the Printers Building at 44 Portland St., Worcester. Parking is available on Portland Street, as well as in the McGrath lot on the corner of Myrtle and Salem streets. The gallery is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
