Singer/songwriter and award-winning actress Alicia Witt will be returning to her Worcester roots New Year’s Eve to perform at Mechanics Hall for her hometown crowd.

Witt is best known as an actor, but with her appearance as a musical guest on the “Craig Ferguson Show and her original piano-driven rock in the vein of Sara Bareilles and Elton John ~ that is about to change! Witt she is also a classically trained pianist and accomplished singer/songwriter. For the last threeyears, she’s been performing her original songs at venues across the country. Her self-titled EP is available on iTunes. She is currently at work on a new album.

You’ve seen her on TV in “Friday Night Lights,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Two and a Half Men,” “The Sopranos,” “Ally McBeal,” and ,of course, as Cybill Shepherd’s sarcastic, piano-playing daughter Zoey on “Cybill.” Her movie credits include her Cowgirls n Angels, I Do, The Boarding House, 88 Minutes, Urban Legend, The Upside of Anger with Kevin Costner, Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise, Two Weeks Notice with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, and Mr. Holland’s Opus opposite Richard Dreyfuss.
