Think you have the pipes (and maybe even a few killer stage moves) to beat the karaoke competition? Then head to Beemers Pub, 114 River St., Fitchburg on September 14th, starting at 9pm, to strut your stuff (and contestants are urged to dress up to make their performances really pop ~ especially during theme weeks!).
And of course there are prizes ~ they’re awarded to the top male and top female contestants and to the runners up. The top male and female will receive at least $1,000 cash plus a 2 song recording demo at Endless Recording Studios. Runners up will receive a 1 song demo at Root Productions and possibly cash prizes.
The competition starts on 9/14/12 at 9pm and will run every Friday until 12/14/12, which is Awards Night. The first 4 Fridays are registration weeks (registration is free!). Contestants do not need to participate every week during registration weeks. The judges will take the best score out of the 4 registration weeks for each contestant and add it into Week 5’s score. Contestants must be at the contest every week from Week 5 on.
Starting with Week 5, there will be contestants eliminated every week, similar to the format of “American Idol.” There will be 2-3 judges every week and a sound meter for audience participation scoring. Theme weeks ~ including Billboard #1 hits, the 60s, one hit wonders, and more ~ start on Week 5 as well.
Contestants are scored as follows: Vocal Ability = out of 50 points, Performance/Dress = out of 30 points, Difficulty = out of 20 points, and audience participation (sound meter) = out of 30 points.
This is a great event that brings the community together for pure fun. The contestants are very supportive of each other and the competition is nothing but friendly! Once a year, host Heather DiNitto runs a national contest qualifier for the Talent Quest National Karaoke Competition. The regional contest was held on Cape Cod this August and contestant Beau Richard of the Sing to Win Competition at Beemers won a spot at the Nationals this month iin Las Vegas!
Look for the big spotlight ~ sponsored by Halloween Costume World ~ lighting up the Fitchburg sky on 9/14/12 at Beemers Pub! See you there!
