With Earth Day still on our minds and going green always on our minds, many students start thinking of new ways to be eco-friendly. Fortunately, GreenSmart has some great options with its extensive line of stylish eco-friendly MacBook and laptop sleeves, backpacks, messenger bags and wine/water carriers.

GreenSmart’s products are designed to be green from concept, through materials development, to execution. The company’s variety of bags are made from toxin-free Neogreene material, as well as 100% recycled plastic bottles. Each bag comes with an explanation of how plastic bottles become your bag (and how many bottles are used for each bag!) ~ a recycled plastic bottle is ground into chips, spun into yarn, woven into fabric, and then sewn into the bag.

Another fun fact is the company names many of its products after endangered animals (I have one of the great messenger bags ~ tons of zippered compartments, including two large padded ones that both easily fit my laptop, and a bunch of easy-access “convenience” compartments for phone, pens, etc. ~ and it’s called “Puku,” after an antelope found in the wet grasslands of Southern Democratic Republic of Congo and in Zambia), and in their support, GreenSmart donates 10% of its profits to the World Wildlife Fund and other non-profit organizations helping to create a greensmart planet.
