The Worcester Sharks might see a spike in attendance on Feb. 24 ~ not just because they’re hosting rival Providence Bruins, but because New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski will be there to spike the ceremonial puck.

“This is a win-win for everyone,” Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd said in a statement. “Sharks fans are Patriots fans and I know that they will pack the house to root on Rob and the Sharks.”

The NFL’s top tight end was fined $7,500 after spiking the football ~ which has become his signature move ~ while celebrating his second touchdown of the game on Nov. 13. The Sharks will reimburse Gronkowski his fine in exchange for spiking the puck.
