It seems that you can’t watch TV anymore without a commercial or infomercial that is somehow related to losing weight or getting the perfect body. They promise flat abs, toned arms, a perfect butt and thighs that could crack a walnut. Gorgeous models in skimpy clothing flex their way right into the Gee, I wish I looked like THAT center of your brain and all you have to do is “…make 3 easy payments of $29.95,” take a miracle pill or spend just $1 down on a gym membership, yada yada yada. Good deal, right? Not so much.

Franny Goodrich, a CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) through the American Council on Exercise, exposes all of the marketing deception. Is it possible to have the best body possible for you? Absolutely. It’s the HOW that we have been lied to about for years. Franny breaks it all down in his book Diet, Exercise & Weight Loss Bullshit Exposed. This easy-to-read, every day language book separates the truth about looking fabulous from the gimmicky fairy tales that we are all faced with every day, often without even realizing it. You’ll laugh because the book ~ although truthful ~ is also very funny and you’ll cry because you have undoubtedly fallen for a myth or product that was a complete waste of your time and money.

“It includes sections on eating for weight-loss, exercising for the best results, and an entire section on creating your own body make-over strategy ~ the right way. Of course, the book continues to bust the industry frauds,” Franny tells me. “It’s become increasingly popular with credible health and fitness professionals.”

As a young athlete, Franny found himself not only passionate about competing, but also drawn to the science behind what made the body compete at its best, so he began reading research journals on the topic. “As a result, I was able to ascertain credible, evidence-based sports training making me less susceptible to buying into the bullsh*t espoused by popular, glossy-covered newsstand magazines with muscle-freaks pushing worthless supplements and idiotic training protocols,” he shares with a chuckle.

It all comes down to the one golden rule of the energy equation scale, a.k.a. calories-in, calories-out. According to Franny, “If losing fat is your primary goal, then forget everything you have ever heard. Find ways to reduce your overall calorie consumption, find ways to move more, or both. Forget “low carbs,” “no fat,” Veganism, diets they’re all talking about at the office, etc. It’s all just semantics. If any diet causes you to lose weight, it’s ONLY because you tipped that scale in your favor. Just start doing something!”

The book includes an extensive Q&A, a three day write-in assessment of your current habits, a calories burned per hour activity index, and tips for every kind of person no matter what body-state you may be in right now ~ all while bringing to light the myths we’ve all come to believe. It gives the reader the knowledge of how to wade through the piles of misinformation and clues them in to what the body really needs in order to look and feel the way it should. And it does all that in a very entertaining way.

Franny tells Pulse readers, “If you are someone who claims to have tried everything, and yet nothing seems to work, read this book. You may be surprised to learn that everything you thought you knew about diets, exercise, and weight-loss is pure bullshit. You may also discover that your own weight-loss success suddenly happens.
