Loft 266 still open.  Some people were confused by the ad Loft 266 ran in the December issue of Pulse.  The wildly popular Park Ave. night spot is not closing.  According to Steve Hopkins, the owner, they are just changing management.  Hopkins also owns Blue Jeans Pizza and The Registry.

Mezcal moves.  It appears that Niche Hospitality has signed a deal with the City of Worcester to relocate its outstanding Mexican restaurant, Mezcal, to Major Taylor Boulevard across from the DCU Center.  This will almost triple the size of the restaurant. The question remains, what will they do with the Shrewsbury Street location?

Beijing Palace closed.  It appears official: the Beijing Palace on West Boylston Street has shut down and turned in its liquor license.  The Chinese restaurant had been closed for a couple of months. This is a great location, so I’m sure it won’t sit empty for long.  We will keep you posted.

More than espresso.  Café Espresso ~ which has been located on Worcester’s Grafton Hill for over 20 years ~ will soon be moving to the West Side…Chandler Street, specifically.  Good news is, Cafe Espresso will still be BYOB.

Squire’s moving.  Squire’s, a mainstay of Worcester’s Quinsig Village for years, will soon be moving.  They will be taking over the space that until recently housed Joey’s Bar & Grill on Mill Street in Worcester. The space is smaller, but it has great potential for outdoor dining in the warmer months, since it sits on the shore of Coes Pond.

55 Pearl to get new life.  According to our sources, the building in downtown Worcester which formerly housed 55 Pearl and before that TinoVo will soon have a unique food related use.  We will keep you posted.  Worcester’s  George and Company is brokering the deal.

Peoples Kitchen. The Peoples Kitchen at 1 Exchange Place in Worcester will start offering cooking demonstration dinners on January 11, 18 & 25. The cost is $100 per person and includes dinner, wine and recipes.  Call the Peoples Kitchen at 508-459-9090 to sign up.

86 Winter at 65 Water Street.  It appears that a new tenant will be moving into the space at 65 Water Street.  We hear that Nick Vapiano of Holden’s Flip Flops has inked a deal with the building owner for a new restaurant. This is great space in the heart of Worcester’s Canal District that never really took off under the previous owners.

Tailgating Party.  According to Dean Weeks of Tailgaters, he will be opening a new Tailgaters Grill & Draft House in Marlboro on Route 20’s Sudbury line.  The original Tailgaters in Clinton was destroyed by a fire.  The new one will be located in a plaza that also houses both a Home Depot and a Staples.  We also hear that he has been scouting Worcester for a third location.
