“Dancing Naughty is Good for the Body”
By Shelly Aucoin
It’s time to stop being dull and come up with something new. Last year’s ideas are so… last year.
English photographer and fashion designer Cecil Beaton (1904) said, “Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”
Fabulous advice in any century, but what’s a girl to do to shake up her routine? Well, for starters, how about pole dancing? Yep, I said pole dancing ~ as in burlesque.
VaVaVoom Dance Fitness is as much about maximizing fun as it is maximizing results. With a motto like “Dancing naughty is good for the body,” how could anyone resist?
“I wanted to create something for women of all ages, something that they would enjoy, something that challenges them, increases self esteem and body confidence. Women love feeling ‘Sexy and Fit,’ so I combined my passion of fitness, dance and sensuality to create classes that are fun and inspiring,” says owner Ann Saldi.
Ann brings over 20 years of dance experience to the table, has taught dance workshops internationally, and earned the prestigious title of “Boston’s Best” for her unique style of dance choreography.
All of VaVaVoom’s instructors have impressive resumes boasting many years of experience ~ well over 100 years between them. Ann and the other instructors are not just another bunch of fitness trainers; they are well-studied and well-rounded professionals of the arts: gymnastics, ballet, tap, jazz, Irish step dancing, hip hop, and modern dance, to name a few. There are also kickboxing and Kripalu yoga specialists among the group.
Outrageous specials offered at VaVaVoom include Intro to Pole Dancing, Bombshell Burlesque, Hot Hips Cardio Belly Dancing, Hip to Strip, and Exotic Chair Dancing. Other classes offered include Beautiful Ballet Basics, Brazilian Carnival, Dancing with the STEP, Jazz Jam 101, Party, Punch & Pump and Zumba®.
Forget going to the gym; wouldn’t you rather feel like you’re at the club? If you’re worried about prices and scared to let the moth out of your wallet, be sure to take advantage of the college discount. A wide variety of rates and packages are available.
Speaking of the club feel, plan an outrageous girls’ night out at VaVaVoom! Celebrate with a unique birthday, bachelorette, or graduation party and it will definitely be something that you and your girls won’t soon forget. Party rates run roughly $25-$35 per person.
“One of our passions at VaVaVoom Dance Fitness is helping people have a great time in a fun, non-judgmental atmosphere that promotes self-confidence and beauty from the inside out,” says Ann.
