Rock the Vote’s PSA Campaign Extends the Band’s Social/Political Call to Action on Their Current Single “Sound Off”
“Sound Off” Application Goes Live on Facebook
TRAPT’s Latest Album NO APOLOGIES Drops October 12th
TRAPT, the multi-platinum rock band whose self-titled debut album spawned two #1 Mainstream Rock singles, (“Headstrong” and “Still Frame”), and the Alternative Rock Song of the Decade (Billboard), have partnered with Rock the Vote for a special “Vote Fearlessly” PSA campaign. This influential campaign extends the band’s social and political call to action on their first single, the anthem “Sound Off,” asking “Have you been heard? Have you been walking around this world misunderstood?” and promising, “we will ask the questions that you fear…” The entire record is chock full of piercingly honest views of today’s society and the hardships that unite us all.
In an effort to further spread the message of “Sound Off,” TRAPT have designed a unique Facebook application where fans can create, post and share their personalized videos sounding off. Rock the Vote engages young people in our democracy and builds their political power by registering, educating and turning them out to vote, by forcing the candidates to campaign to them, and by making politicians pay attention to youth and the issues they care about once in office. For 20 years, we have used music, popular culture, new technologies and old-fashioned grassroots organizing to engage and mobilize young people to participate in every election. By providing them with the information and tools they need since 1990, Rock the Vote has registered more than 5 million young people, including more than 2.5 million in the historic 2008 election. In 2010, Rock the Vote seeks to register 200,000 young voters as part of the largest midterm elections outreach strategy in our organization’s history.
TRAPT return with their most powerful and dynamic album to date, NO APOLOGIES, due out October 12th on Eleven Seven Music. The album sees the band drawing on their early rock roots reminiscent of their 2002 RIAA certified platinum self-titled debut album. The band’s third album, Only Through The Pain (released in August of 2008 via Eleven Seven Music) debuted at #2 on the Top Independent Album chart and #18 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced two Top 20 Mainstream Rock tracks (“Who’s Going Home With You Tonight?” and “Contagious”). Billboard recently named “Headstrong” the #1 Alternative Song and #7 Rock Song of the Decade.
TRAPT is Chris Taylor Brown (Vocals/Guitar), Pete Charell (Bass), Aaron “Monty” Montgomery (Drums) and Robb Torres (Guitar) making his studio debut on NO APOLOGIES.
