Halloween Campus Q&A

They may not be going from door to door trick-or-treating, but college students in Worcester definitely know how to have fun on Halloween. Pulse caught up with a few students to find out their costume ideas, best party memories, and plans for this Halloween.

Brett Ryan, 19, freshman, Assumption College: “I’m going to be Scuba Steve!” (from the Adam Sandler movie Big Daddy). He looks forward to eating Sweet Tarts, and said his most memorable Halloween was just too scandalous to be put in print.
Heidi Springmann, 18, freshman (left), and Rebecca Curry, 18, freshman (right), Assumption College: “There’s going to be a bunch of Jersey Shore costumes this year, especially Snooki,” predicted Springmann, whose favorite Halloween candy is Dum Dum lollipops. Curry, who was a member of KISS last Halloween, remembers one particularly frightening Halloween – “While my friends and I were trick-or-treating, a guy dressed as the Grim Reaper chased us down the street,” she said.
Molly Gallagher, 21, senior, Clark University: “Last Halloween I saw the band Passion Pit at Southampton University in England, which was awesome,” she said. “My funniest Halloween memory, though, was freshman year when a cop busted the party I was at, but my friends thought his police uniform was a costume and didn’t believe him.”
Emma Rudnick, 20, junior (left), and Sarah Rondeau, 19, sophomore (right), Holy Cross: We’re going to dress as ‘glitter,’ with sparkly outfits and body paint, which fits our outgoing and bubbly personalities,” said Rondeau. “We’re also going to have Ke$ha-inspired hair, because we love her,” said Rodnick. They plan on attending off-campus parties, which they say are usually “madness.”
Ally Murray, 20, junior, Clark University: “My parents would never let me wear my costume without a jacket, so that sort of ruined Halloween for me as a kid,” she said. Now that she’s in college, though, she can go all out: “Someone suggested that my girlfriend and I dress up as the Titanic and the iceberg,” she said.
Mike Lopes, 20, junior, Becker College: “I’m going to be Quailman from ‘Doug,’” he said. “My craziest party memory was Halloween 2007 when I went to a massive Halloween Zombie Foam Party. This year, I hope to make it to Clark’s Drag Ball. And to eat loads of Snickers and Twix.”
Keenan Stickles, 20, junior, Quinsigamond Community College: “I haven’t figured out yet what I’m going to be yet, but I’ll just go to Savers on Park Avenue a few days before – I always find something crazy to wear there.”
Jorge Ramirez, 21, senior, Worcester State University: “I’m going to be an outlaw – vest, cowboy hat, duster coat, gloves, and a bandana…and I’m going to party, for sure.”
Cat Flynn, 20, junior, Holy Cross: “Last year I went as Lady Gaga, with a leotard, rhinestones and shredded spandex,” she said. “This year, I’m planning a costume inspired by ‘True Blood.” Flynn said the best costume she ever saw was a girl dressed as Kate Gosselin with eight baby dolls strapped to her body. “And I definitely want to go to Salem around Halloween ~ I heard it’s a lot of fun,” she said.
