ent-lead-cool-tour-lilith-logoJuly 20th will mark the first installment of the Cool Tour, a metal installment of heavy yet diverse bands, all of which represent the freshest, the boldest, and the “coolest” acts circulating the metal grid. July 30th will see the triumphant return of the Lilith Tour after an 11 year absence. Let’s start from the top.

The first annual Cool Tour doesn’t just feature the usual suspects. Cancer Bats, War of Ages, Bless the Fall, and Architects are amongst the fresh wash of acts that are scheduled to showcase their music to new audiences over the three week stretch, joining the seasoned favorites that audiences have come to expect like The Acacia Strain, Underoath, Between the Buried and Me and headliners As I Lay Dying. This combination of bands will pull different realms of fans together to experience a truly eclectic night of metal at the House of Blues.

“Cool Tour has some of the biggest bands within our genre,” says As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis. “The line-up is diverse enough that it all still fits under the ‘heavy’ umbrella.” With the release of AILD’s latest album, The Powerless Rise, the Cool Tour was the perfect opportunity to showcase their latest effort to a new audience. “We really feel it’s the best album we’ve written, and we believe doing this tour is a great way to let everybody know,” Lambesis says. Another band that shares that sentiment is prog-experimental-jazz-infused metal prodigies Between the Buried and Me. “Cool Tour will get us in front of some fans we never really play in front of, and we hope to introduce our music to some younger fans that want to get into different kinds of music,” vocalist Tommy Rogers explained. Cool Tour will be the last tour for BTBAM for a while ~ the band’s been on tour for the past year promoting The Great Misdirect, and has had a total of a week and a half off. “We’ve been on the road for so long that we’re just anxious to get home and start writing again.”

As the leading men of metal leave Boston, the leading ladies of rock will be swooping in, reclaiming their spot on the summer circuit at the Comcast Center. Kelly Clarkson, Cat Power, Tegan and Sara, Jill Scott, Missy Higgins, Sara Bareilles, Serena Ryder, Ann Atomic, Zee Avi, the legendary Carly Simon, headliner Sarah McLachlan and the winner of the local talent search will exert their major girl power and remind everyone what they’ve been missing for the past 11 years. And as is customary, Lilith will be raising money for local charities ~ Facebook fans will vote for their local charity of choice in each of the 36 cities; $1 from every ticket will be donated to the local charity, and Sarah McLachlan will personally present the checks.
What are you waiting for?? Go get your heavy and your girl-pop-folk explosion on!
