“We can’t keep the new Reebok EasyTones in stock. They are flying off the shelves,” according to Reebok.

I kept hearing about these new sneakers that give you a workout just by wearing them. Being a woman who tries to make it to the gym ~ but can’t resist chocolate ~ I figured I could use every bit of help I could get.

The Reebok peeps say that the “EasyTone technology improves muscle tone in the hamstrings, calves and glutes up to 28%.”

So, I got myself a pair and vowed to wear them for a month. Here’s how it went:

Week 1

Two weeks before Christmas! I can’t think of a better time to start wearing my new Reebok EasyTones (an early present from Santa!). With Christmas shopping to be done, errands to be run, and cookies to be eaten, I laced up my new black sneakers and took off for the day.

It took a few minutes to get used to the bottom part of the shoe, but after that I breezed through my visit to the mall, and by the time I got to the grocery store I could definitely feel the shoes working my quads and glutes. When I get back to my house and take off the shoes, my muscles feel sore like they would after a hard work out.

This week I noticed that my jeans were a little loose (How fantastic! Especially around the holidays!). I wore my sneakers to a friend’s house and she liked them so much she asked her husband to get her a pair for Christmas. With the holidays around the corner, I tried to wear them as much as possible.

Week 3

It’s the week after Christmas, and I went up to Maine to go skiing. My mother (who got EasyTones for Christmas) and I wore our shoes every chance we could get (although due to the amount of snow, I was forced to wear boots a couple of days). By now, my legs are getting used to the work out, and they are not as sore as when I first started wearing them.

Week 4

It’s the first week of January and like the rest of the free world, my new year’s resolution is to go back to the gym. I decided to wear my EasyTones. They are great during my lifting session, but I would not advise you to wear them running on the treadmill (but, rumor has it Reebok is coming out with a new line of toning shoes that you just might be able to wear to the gym and onto the treadmill).

All in all, my jeans still feel loose, my muscles look leaner (according to my husband!) and I feel good. Now all Reebok has to do is team up with Jimmy Choo or Steve Madden (for the babes on a budget) and design a set of EasyTone heels I can wear to work.
